Acceleration Issue... Has anyone had this happen?
Hello all,
I have an 02 996 turbo with just under 30k miles. I have owned it for just over 3 months and have had a great experience with the car. The other day I was driving it rather hard and noticed under hard acceleration in second gear the car oddly stopped pulling as if I took my foot off the gas despite being floored. Has anyone seen this issue or know what could be the cause? I have a few months left on the warranty and want to make sure I get this fixed if it is an issue.
Many thanks for all the help.

Is the car stock? Any "tune"?
With under 30K miles have the plugs ever been changed?
What about the fuel filter?
How fresh is the gasoline?
Are you using premium gasoline?

Did the RPM's continue to increase even though the car stopped pulling?
If so, my $$$ is on a slipping clutch. If RPM's increase but the vehicle speed does not, slipping clutch or spinning tires.

Here is a quick answer to the questions posed...
-Car is in great condition as I can tell
-The car is completely stock
-I am not sure about plugs and filter but will check with the dealer
-Gasoline was just filled that week and was using premium
-The RPM's came down... It was as if I lifted my foot off the gas (but peddle was down)

MAF or fuel pump?

I had a similar experience about a month ago. I assumed that I over done it while in 2nd and hit the rev limiter. Not even sure if these cars have a rev limiter or what rpm it kicks in at.

Find a top tier code reader or someone that has a PIWIS and read your stored codes.. Check for stored misfires...
Did you have a Pre Purchase Inspection done on the car >>my point, did you get the service history?
Scottie, YES the stock limiter is set at 6750, hard fuel cut.

Never mind.
Throttle pedal recalibration
1. Switch the ignition on for 1 minute without starting the engine.
Do not actuate the accelerator pedal (for instance, make sure
that there is not a carpet pressing on the pedal).
2. Switch off ignition for at least 10 seconds.
The following conditions must also be observed, otherwise learning
is not possible:
♦Vehicle is stationary
♦Battery positive voltage between 10 V and 16 V
♦Engine temperature between 5 °C and 100 °C
♦Intake air temperature between 10 °C and 100 °C
