Clutch interlock switch defeat?
I want to be able to start my '03 996TT without depressing the clutch. Is there a way to override the interlock? I assume there's a switch down there. Does defeating it have any side effects?
Thanks in advance

Yes, there is a switch that is pressed when the clutch is all the way in. It's located above the clutch pedal. I zip tied mine closed. You can also disconnect the 2 wires on the switch and connect them together. No adverse effects.

After installing my GT2 clutch conversion and RSS clutch pedal stop, I had to jump my clutch start-up switch, since the pedal doesn't drop far enough to the floor. Works great and the cruise control works fine too.
Just remember to leave the car out of gear when starting it up!

+2 i also merely disconnected the wires and crimped them. i hated always having to engage the clutch to start. i get it, the car was marketed to bankers, but i never needed a safety switch before!
vast improvement! and less stress on the throwout bearing, is it? i dunno, one of them there parts.

Oh, good idea. Another question. At the top of the clutch action I can hear an annoying click of a microswitch. Do they all make this noise?
