Default Need expert opinions pre purchase

I found a nice 2003 silver on black with x-50 and PCCB. 89,000km for 55,000$ CDN. However I am looking at some of the previous owners documentation and found this relating to over revs:

Range 1: 64000 2254.8HR
Range 2: 689 2254.8HR

The car has some sort of GIAC programmer in the glovebox so not sure if that would account for the large Range 1 over revs. One of the inspections also reveals "brake rotors worn from track use". Now I understand you can replace the carbon rotors with steel but I would imagine this is still a fairly pricy job.

What do you guys think?

A lot can happen in 4,000 km. We need the current hour time stamp on the car now.

Unless your in love with the car or plan on tracking it yourself I would keep looking= lots of nice low mile clean cars to choose from.

I believe it was an option. Not part of the X-50 package.

I see a car that probably was taken to redline often but not bouncing off the rev limiter, big difference.

Red line is the rev limiter. In this case, 64,000 times (6,750-7,250 RPM). Then another 690 times > 7,250 RPM.

* times = ignitions

Redline is not the rev limiter.
The limiter is around 7000 redline is 6600.

You can easily take it to the 'redline' and not hit the limiter..
When you hit the limiter you will feel it.

When you bang the rev limiter, you record a range 1 over-rev. In this case over 64,000 ignitions.

Range 2s are more severe, and most usually a result of a missed shift.

I have to disagree my friend.. you can take the engine to 6800 and trigger type 1 but not hit the rev limiter.
the limiter is just north of 7000.
Touching redline is not the same as hitting the REV limiter.
The limiter is the point where the ecu cuts fuel.
Banging off the limiter can take you over 7250 also as the fuel is cutting on and off.

changing the rotors to steel is easy and not expensive.
