The car I'm looking at has 37580 type 1 over revs and 1956 type 2. The rev limiter on the car is 7300 rpm with tune. Owner says he's never missed a downshift but hits the rev limiter regularly. The range 2 could be from hitting the rev limiter in up shifts? Car puts out around 625hp.

And be nice guys.

yes, it absolutely can. bouncing off the rev limiter has been known to increase the number of type 2's in cars with raised redlines. e.g. mine ( again ) is at 7200 from the oem 6750.

sorry about your thread lol.

With the typical flash and exhaust, nothing to worry about except the driver, though refreshing DVs, plugs, coils and MAF gives extra peace of mind. With some aftermarket turbos (fast spooling, high flow, so high low down torque) it depends on the tuner as rods won't bend at the high rev power peak (where much of the power is being made from the high frequency of ignition cycles), they usually bend before the engine's torque peak as that is where the most work is being done per ignition cycle. Some (most?) tuners will cap low down torque where this would otherwise be a risk.

If you're thinking to use a highly modded car's performance on any street course, then supporting brake and suspension mods would be a good idea too I'd think.

i dont have any fuel beyond using the 5 bar. but interestingly, there's a recent thread on 6 from 996tt550hp and i think he just got 564awhp? and i'm similarly modded but running rwd with maybe a cpl more parts ( plenum? ) and 24's hotside.

i'm thinking of actually going to this new place in torrance that can dyno and the rollers are setup for rwd testing. i'm curious to see hard data also! though my parts combo has been tested a lot since its so "common".
Gotcha. Yeah, go throw it on a dyno and get some numbers. I'd be curious how it stacks up to the K16s I have. I know of several people, namely Mike Kelly that used to frequent these forums and he had the same K16/24 you have, 5bar, diverters, exhaust, etc. etc., and his car was low 500rwhp, around 510 I think running 1.2 bar (not sure what gas). His set up was basically identical to yours. His car was one of the strongest K16/24 cars out there pulling the front wheels off the ground on a drags trip. Here's a link to it showing his mods.

One other guy in my area has K16/24s with 5 bar, intake pipes and Europipe exhaust. He also did in the low 500s on 91 octane.

All makes sense to me, as "advertised" with the requisite grain of salt @ no extra charge lol its the 700 crank or the 550 whp "kit" similar in many respects to the ruf 550 package though mine was dyno'd prior to their headers being polished/ported ( whatever ) to work with the catless exhaust plus the ipd plenum..So I'm confident I picked up a few extra hamsters along the way.

The good news is I have no personal stake in whether or not I'm at 525 or 600 rwhp and also that scamswatter wouldn't find ANYthing not working exactly as it was designed to. HAH.

But I will dyno it again and share the results John. Thanks for asking!

How do I know that there is an additional possibility that the modded car has been driven even harder than it might have been, in order for the driver-owner to enjoy those mods, or how do I know that it is "likely" that people with modified cars drive them hard (or both)?
