^ Agree- Not the answer I would want to hear= have it looked over by someone willing to take the time to do it right.

Its basically the only shop in town that claims they know anything about Porsche.

I'll check the coolant level.

Pentosin level was fine.

You don't have a Porsche dealer fairly close?

Coolant level is at min line. But engine is hot. I assume level will drop as engine cools, I'll see where it ends up...

I had mine pressure tested as it was at the low level recently and all checked out fine, they said it was probably just overflow. Hope they're right.
You have some pretty good advice from the above members.

What could likely be leaking from the front left side of the engine block? There is what looks like a drain plug and metal hose in the vicinity and appears to be leaking somewhere above that.

I recently had a leak from the drain plug on the oil tank. After some investigation, I discovered that when parking in my apartment parking bay I had reversed a little too far over the tyre stops which had contacted the drain plug and loosened it.

I got under the car today but couldnt really pinpoint anything. I took some pics, any ideas? I still cant tell what the fluid is. Its oily but thin and has no noticeable odor.

There is aftermarket die that a shop can pour into the engine and use a black light to see the leak source. However, with this engine it's tough to spot. You have a leak up front and a leak in the back. Chain housing leak, cylinder base gasket leak >>all require the engine to come out. I would be looking at heat exchanger on the top of engine under the intake plenum.

How long have you owned the car? How many miles are on the car?

'03 with 46,000. I just bought it a couple months ago and a PPI indicated no notable issues at that time.

The shop changed the oil then, could the type of oil cause the leaks? It seems like pretty thin oil to me...

From your pictures I have a similar oil leak I even had my engine taken out had my mechanic take everything off the top of the engine and he couldn't find the source of the leak in my case I think it's like Kevin mentioned Chain housing leaking, it drive me nuts I hate leaks. It takes about 3 or 4 drives before a single drop of oil will fall on my garage floor while not a huge leak still hate it. Another Porsche mechanic I have been talking to quoted me around 20-50 hours to replace my chain housing gaskets/o-rings.

Default Oil leak?

That's definitely motor oil. 0w40 is very thin.
