Default hydraulic line for the clutch slave cracked

Was at DE and driving through the parking lot and heard a whine, thought it was gearbox whine and then my clutch pedal went really stiff. I parked it and there was a trail of oil what looked like gear oil (not hot at all) gushing out from what looks like the tranny. End up being hydraulic line for the clutch slave cracked.

Anyone ever have this happen? Sounds like it is a difficult thing to change.

Are you sure the line is cracked? I hear the accumulator is a b##ch to get tight.

My indy says it is. I assume that it's one of the lines near the accumulator.

if it is the line from the reservoir its easy to replace. not cheap but easy. if it is a line coming from either the p/s reservoir or the p/s pump the motor has to be dropped. both lines wind thru the center of the motor under the manifold

If it is small line going to the ps pump it can be replaced without dropping the engine. I did it last year and it can be done but was difficult....

It's most likely #6 or #7

Based on the fact that the mechanic mentioned an engine drop.

I think 4. He showed me the crack. He thinks the last owner's indy when they did the clutch and slave that they tightened it too much and it eventually cracked from that.

You don't need to drop the engine for that.. Yes, you will need to lower the tranny and engine, but not a full drop.
