I would agree, isn't a 1.0 bar tune about the (safe) limit for K16 cars?

Sounds like a deal. But to quote my late father "if it's not that car it will be another one." There are a lot out there. Find the right one for you. I did.... and I'm still grinning from the day I got it home.

It looks like prices have settled down in the past few weeks. Starting to feel like I overpaid for mine with an accident on the car fax. Food thing I love it and plan on keeping it for a long time to come.

You asked what questions... service records and any recent PPI info you can get your hands on. The car has had 6 owners, and it's unlikely you're going to get a full package of records. Important to get the over-rev report from the instrument cluster (Porsche diagnostic tool does that). Be aware that if the clutch or master/slave is nearing the end of life, you will have a mid-5-figure bill coming.

OTOH, I paid a lot more for a 5-owner car with *no* records. I have no regrets. These are robust cars, and not everyone drives them hard.

What in your opinion constitutes "driving them hard"?

If it checks out I say buy it. Miles on these cars hurt the value hard doesn't mean it's been abused. If it's been serviced well ppl checks out I think it's a good buy.
The rims aren't that bad.

I don't mind high mile cars myself as long as they are maintained and babied. I've bought a few cars over 100k miles and are like new condition(not Pcars), but I personally went to view the cars and inspected. Make sure seller tell you all the flaws and during the inspection there better be no secrets or issues not disclosed.

Its the DME compensating for the altitude of Albuquerque (~5000') to make the same absolute pressure, it'll drop to ~1.0 bar at sea level.

...but yes, K16s are working hard to make up the difference. Good intercooling was key when I lived there with my flashed K16 car.

Well said. Interesting to hear what sounds like some of the motivation behind your incredibly detailed intercooler research. Those 997.2/GT2RS ICs rock!

Getting a PPI at a shop in alberquerque on Monday. Let's hope it checks out. I'll give pricing details once we close.
