Default BMC air filter caused Mass failure

It did cause my mass to fail/malfunction literary in the middle of a track session .......
(The oil from its wet kind filter ) made my Mass oily and collect debris from air intake
I bought a new one (in-vein) we cleaned the used one and worked fine.

Anybody ever had this experience ?
Peace guys...

I prefer paper and have had trouble with oiled filters in the past = no longer use.

That's what I was told by my tech
Little less flow of air but not woth the risk , specially what had happened on the track.

my current car had one installed when i got it and i struggled with maf issues and KNOW it was never "over oiled".

have not had one "hot film maf sensor" code since. just saying. only thing i'm certain the bmc improved was the intake SOUNDS at wot LOL

oem mahle paper. 17 bucks. change often.

I really think that the maf sensors on our cars are very sensitive and prone to playing up from the most minute particles. When I pulled mine out after a few issues it looked clean as a whistle but after I gave it a thorough clean the issues were resolved.

Just another data point...I have a BMC filter. Installed for 7 years and still on the same MAF....don't clean the MAF either. Also modified turbos, intake. You do need to know how to oil the filter, but works fine for me.

Additional data point: Before installing my EVOMS V-Flow air box, I ran a BMC air filter for years (on both stock and modified tuning) and had no issues at all.

I imagine my repeated maf issues and having a bmc filter installed were purely coincidental. but since I never felt any increased performance for having run an oiled filter, I just thought it prudent to bail on it. the decision seems to have worked well for me, and my maf did fail while running an oiled filter and has not failed since but surely that isn't "data" lol. the incidences of over oiling these though are legion, and if one avoids that, then perhaps they will be trouble free forever. was just a bit too "coincidental" for me, I guess.

I use K&N oiled filter on my 79 SC because it does not have a MAF. I have other cars with MAF sensors that I have never and will never use an oiled filter ahead of. The reason some have problems and others do not is because oiling the filter is not scientific. Some spray on too much and it blows off onto the MAF sensors. But for these filters to work correctly, they require oiling. Any collection of oil on the measurement sensor element can change the temperature reading used to measure flow. Dry air even with dust in it doesn't tend to stick to the wire.

Just my opinion.

I am running 3076's alphas turbo they are Detuned but it does suck quite a bit more air .
According to my Technician
Specially on WOT a lot ,tracking the car on a fast track.

My air box is also modied ( additional opening with air scoop)
And again other than the bigger turbo
Just more air flow and more of that BMC (filter oil) being sucked through 😨

I can see that , for me it was causing non stop check engine until it completely shut off on my last lap .
