Default Tire Wear -- Cupping On Outside

Put new tires on 4k miles ago, Sumitomo HTR Z3. I've done 4 track days on them. Outsides on all 4 are pretty cupped. Starting to get a little noisy. Is this normal? Or is this more likely an alignment issue? Maybe just the tires themselves?

Have you had the alignment done. Tire pressure check and look for worn suspension parts.

When I had these tires put on, the wear looked pretty even on the set I pulled off so I didn't mess with the alignment. I've just been running stock pressure.

I have mine checked when I put on new tires. Could be bad tires since all four show same issues?

Well, at the risk of fanning the flames I have to point out you are not running N-rated tires. It could be these non N-rated tires require a different alignment than N-rated tires.

Before throwing a custom alignment on the car I'd start with ensuring the standard alignment is good. Trouble is with the tires worn now the alignment will not be as good as it would have been had the alignment been done with the tires new.

See what your trusted tech has to say about this.

If the tires continue to show abnormal wear then perhaps you need to consider a custom alignment. Again I would advise you to run this by your trusted tech and get his feedback. Perhaps based on the tire wear he can recommend alignment settings that address the abnormal tire wear and yet do not upset the car's road feel and handling.

Tracking the car can cause cupping like that.
