what is that wire running down the center of the windshield? is that an antennae or rain sensor?

Radio antenna I think. The rain sensor is mounted in the inside rear view mirror.

Wire is antenna (booster in A-Pillar), however if you want the rain sensor you do need a specific rain sensor windshield. When mine was replaced satellite had to purchase the windshield directly from Porsche.

Don't get a safe lite windshield. I had them come out to fix a small rice grain size chip and the tech turned it into a 12" long vertical crack. He then quickly gave me the number to corp office and split. The free chip repair just got real expensive. The price for the safe lite glass was $850 with out install. Porsche glass was $1200. I'm just gonna eat the deductible and get the Porsche glass. Safe lite does not make a windshield with the rain sensor.

I too would get the Porsche glass done by someone suggested by dealer or other good source. I have had two chips repaired by safe lite with no issues on cars that I'm not that picky with.

True but the windshields are pretty clear and chips were out of sightline, they say if it spreads they will put in new?

I suggest you get the windshield from the dealer and have their windshield replacement guy (normally a stand alone installer who does work for various dealers) do the install. The total will probably be between $1000 and $1200.
