Default Front end noise when car is hot

Hello all.

My car is a 129 000 km (80 00 miles) 2001 twin turbo, all stock.

Last week, I started to notice a noise coming from the front of the car when I hit bumps on the roads (which means quite often in Montreal...). I immediately thought about worn bushings or something.

But... here's the funny part : the noise only occurs when the car is hot. For example, I will start the car in the morning, then drive for about 15 minutes without the noise. Then, it will start to occur.

The noise sounds like two 2 x 4 (yes, wood) hitting each other in the front trunk. Other than that, the car runs very well and is an absolute blast to drive.

Any idea, I'm pretty confused about that !!

Thanks in advance,
Nico.

You sure there's nothing loose in the trunk? What about the space saver tire and the air pump, etc?

Get the car on a lift and inspect the underside for a loose/busted under body panel or a loose wheel well liner.

Check the axle CV boots.

If nothing turns up you might have to remove the front bumper cover and check the condensers and radiators and the fans are all secure.

at that age/miles if they haven't been swapped for new, the top mounts rubber would've become crumbled with age, resulting in all manner of strange noises emanating from the shock top mount, and the bearings are probably in need or replacement also. just have a look and see if they re original, if so? i'm certain they would be toast by now.

Agree give everything a visual check. At those miles I also agree that a lot of things could need replaced.

Thanks guys for the tips. The only thing I still don't get is why the noise occur after a little while after I start to drive the car...

Check your endlinks too...If there is excess slop, they make noise. Mine sounds similar, I pulled one end of off and ziptied the endlinks still, then drove and the noise went away.

I have parts on the way now.
