Took my car out for the third drive since the B&M was installed. Definitely a good choice for a low dollar.

I will vouch that the 997 oem shifter in my 996 turbo does not feel any different than my 986 shifter.

stock 996tt shifter is one of Porsche's worst IMO...prefer early aircooled stuff to it... lol

This is stop motion photography that I did (four years ago) showing the throw length of the B&M shifter.

Installed 997 SSK on my 2003 turbo few weeks ago. It's definitely doable and a better driving experience, in my opinion.

I just bought a 997 shifter and will let you know if I feel any difference. It was cheap enough that I figured I would take the chance. Anything has to be better than the rowboat that is the stock 996 one.

i have just been reading over this whole thread and Im stuck in the same dilemma what short shift kit to install on the 996tt.. Im from South Africa so need to think about shipping costs and stuff.I have been looking at ebay and there are a whole lot of shifters. i was considering the B&M but i know some guys have some odd feelings about it. There is also Agency Power billet short shifter and some other cheap shifters. If you had to buy a shifter of ebay which one will it be???

Thanks The Dude..You went straight for the most expensive one.... any other options. Dock the B&M makes a huge difference in shift as per your video.

You're right, Gerard, the Numeric is a little pricey.
It's also tight, crisp, and solidly crafted. Mine has performed flawlessly since it's installation two years ago. It's exceeded my expectations and I feel no need to replace it (unlike some who have opted for the B&M). That's why I felt comfortable recommending it.
I answered your question....if I had to buy one from ebay, which one would it be...Numeric.
I hope you're pleased with whichever you choose.
