996tt drives like a bus!
I have a 2003 un modified manual tt. Does any one think the stock steering wheel is to big (circumference) ?
I am a tall fellow and the seat position coupled with my hand hitting my knee when I turn the wheel is not optimal.
My other p cars I sit much lower and have more wheel options (. Non airbag).
I'd like to keep the stock look.
Does any one else have this problem?
What are the stock look wheel options?
Thanks for the advice.

I didn't want to change seats (e.g. the GT3 seat), so I went with a smaller diameter and thicker grip steering wheel from FVD. This steering wheel feels great and solved the hand-to-leg clearance issue.

the stock wheel is absolute crap. i would get a 340mm raid from carnewal. if you need the extension allowing further reach they have that sorted as well
here's what i got. it has an infinitely better feel and size @ 340. stock is 380mm. huge lol

Thank you for the feedback.
Has anyone had any experience with this one?

This is a full view of the penstriping.
This is a very good approximation of what the tach looks like from my eye position.

Besides the immediate benefit the smaller diameter steering wheel provided in terms of leg clearance, it also improved the car's left/right response relative to the amount of steering input. The larger grip is also much more involving.
The steering wheel provides a large part of the direct feedback the driver experiences while driving the car. IMO, maximizing the feel of the steering wheel and shifter, and improving the sound produced by the exhaust system, are three of the most important things an owner can focus on to improve the "driving experience" of the 996 Turbo.

The factory wheel was too big for me, always bumping my hand into my leg or doing shuffle steering at the track doing a hard turn. So I installed a DCTMS and added a steering wheel extension too.
I am 6'3" and the steering wheel position never felt comfortable/natural until I made the swap.

Yes I agree I have modified cars and the driving experience is much improved but with the 996t I'm not really feeling the need/desire to go down that path. If the prices stay down I may consider a beater down the road but really hate to own two cars of the same.
