Default Rennline Shift **** question

I am thinking about replacing my tired shifter with a rennline shift ****. I really like the simple look of it. I have a couple questions for anyone who has installed it themselves.

1) Is it weighted at all? I don't believe it is, but was just curious.
2) I have the standard shift **** (like this) and I was curious how I get my shifter out of the leather or if I have to purchase a separate boot? Or do I need to cut the current boot to use with the rennline shifter?

Or if anyone else has any (reasonably priced) shift ***** they would recommend, let me know!

And as a secondary question, does anyone know where I can purchase a new handbrake cover? Preferably one that says "Porsche" on it.

The handbrake cover will more then likely have to be from Porsche, there are dealers like Suncoast that discount.

The rennline looks wonderful - who doesn't like an ergonomically correct globe?

Forget those crappy Porsche ones.

How much is it?

Unlike most shift ***** on the market, Rennline’s are far from “universal”. Universal usually means that it will nearly fit some applications and will not fit the rest. All Rennline shift ***** are CNC machined to fit specific applications, eliminating the concern of missing a gear due to loose or detached shift ****. There is no need to cut, drill, or modify your factory shift lever to install. All of our shift ***** are the ergonomically correct 1.875” diameter and have rubber trim rings installed at the base. Available in Silver and black finishes, for cars with or without integrated shift boots. Fits 964/993/996/997/Boxster/Cayman w/manual transmission

If you click on the "Select Option" button, it gives you a drop down for the silver and black options, each listed with $95.00 next to it.

Don't think you can get just the boot form Porsche, it comes as one with the shift ****. Think you have to buy the whole brake handle You can try ebay

According to the install instructions for the Rennline, you actually have to cut the boot with a razor blade

I LOVED the look and function of the X97 shifter in my RS60 Spyder. However, in PHX, in the summer, one risks severe burns when the car has been outside for any length of time. I kept a microfiber cloth in the car (or spare ball cap) to protect myself. You have been warned...

I got a CAE Shifter and it's by far the best you buy, the throws are sooooo short and percise. It is a piece of art at the same extent....

So which one to get?

I've got a Rennline ****. It is nice and weighted, and feels great in my hand. I like it's look. The comment about being scalding hot is accurate, and on the opposite end of the spectrum it is ice cold the other half of the year. In fact there is only probably a 2-3 month window where it is the proper temp! lol. I still like it though.

Actually, I often use a silky sunglass "sock" to stick over it so it doesn't get too hot/cold while it sits.
