Default Spare tire

Can someone post a pic or tell me what all is included w/ their spare tire kit? My car didn't come w/ one and it seems to have disappeared somewhere w/ one of the previous owners, so I'm in the process of putting one back together. Also, did the 996tt spare tire kit come w/ a "foam mold" to hold the jack?

Thanks

as i recall it contained the jack which if my memory serves was indeed surrounded/stored in a styrofoam enclosure, the lug wrench in the tool kit along with, of course, the donut on top i threw it all out, so thats from memory. if incorrect, apologies.

There wasn't a foam mold for the jack. It came in a yellow bag. There was also a tire inflation pump and the tool kit. Do a search for tool kit here, because I believe this has been previously asked and it contains the answer.

Agree there was no foam mold for the jack, however a foam mold for all the bits was available and fitted inside the spare wheel, I think it was a GT2 item and the PN is possibly 996 721 163 90. I say possibly because the PET does not have an illustration of this part [consult your Porsche dealer for more info].

As mentioned the jack and handle came in a yellow cloth bag. There is a small black air compressor, compressed air bottle with sealing compound # 999 915 631 40, tool kit with plastic gloves and collapsible spare wheel.

I have used the spare with no problem. It can be deflated and used again, i somehow thought it was a once-only deal.

I personally keep jumper cables and a mini jumper battery [see Amazon] in there also. The mini jumper battery has been decried by some as being useless, however none of the naysayers had ever tried one. I have tested it on 4 different engines, my iPad and my smartphone - worked fine every time. Needs charging regularly - say every 8 weeks.

Incidentally, the 996 tool kit is much cheaper on Ebay than the 993.
There's a seller in Lithuania - I think he's trying to corner the market!

Shoot, wish I had known that about three weeks ago.

So basically all your cars came from the factory with the jack in the bag and tool kit and such just sitting loosely in the front? And the foam "carrier" was an option that came on the gt2 but the turbo did not come with?

the GT2 does not come with a spare, it is a sealant kit, which along with the tools is in a foam insert, where the spare wheel is on the TT. For the TT it is a bolted down get you home type spare wheel with the tools packed in the wheel. If you are in to weight saving I don't see why you couldn't switch to the GT2 kit, the sealant bottles are readily available.

I took my spare wheel out because i doubt i would use it and have to try and get a wheel
In the car with its pristine interior . So i checked the GT2 kit out . My OPC in UK can
Supply and also Carnewal have it for €90 . Gert says it has to be trimmed to fit the tt
Though .

these are being sold by 9apart in the UK for £35. Way cheaper than Carnewal. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Po...ht_1626wt_1141
