Default "Pineapple Express" - Build Thread

I've spilled bits & pieces across the forum, but I'm finally taking a few minutes to log everything in one place.

Starting Point: 2002 996 Turbo w/ X50 package, Undercover catless x-pipe exhaust, eurodyne tune, 5 bar FPR, and H&R springs

Goal: I didn't necessarily have a target number in mind, but the overall goal here is to create the "ultimate street car." That means different things to different people, to me that is reliable, drivable, comfortable, and hella fast. The car also needed to be in a more competitive state for the various roll-race events. For 2015 the focus will shift to suspension & braking.

Planned Upgrades: I went to Garth at Undercover Performance for everything. He helped me put a plan together that would accomplish my near-term goals while keeping things ready if I want to jump to the next level
  • K24/20 Turbos w/ clipped wheels, filters mounted to turbos (ceramic coated)
  • ProEFI 112 EMS w/ E85 support
  • UC Fuel System Upgrade (Walbro 460, Bosch 044, 1400cc inj, UC fuel rails)
  • Updated Undercover X-Pipe Exhaust (added mufflers, new tips, and plumbed the wastegate dumps into the system)
  • UC headers w/ ext. precision 46mm wastegates (ceramic coated)
  • IPD Plenum
  • 997.1TT Intake
  • UC Y-Pipe w/ dual BOVs
  • Welded coolant pipes
  • ERP Twin Disk Carbon clutch
  • GT2 Slave conversion
  • Forge boost hoses

Status: I stopped by the shop yesterday and we are almost ready to hit the dyno for tuning. My exhaust and y-pipe will receive their final touches this week and I'm hoping to finally pick up the car sometime next week.

Here are some pictures of the journey:

Staying tuned for updates!

What wheels are those? They look like the Avant Garde ones.

I got a text this morning saying that she's a day, maybe 2 from being fired up. Hoping for some more pictures this afternoon.

Good eye on the wheels, they're Avant Garde M510s in brushed grigio

The exhaust is now 100% done and mounted on the car. The y-pipe will finish test fitment tomorrow and then its over to the dyno for tuning. The guys over at Fabworx/UC did an amazing job on the fabrication...I wouldn't mind hanging one of these on the wall

Figured while I'm waiting for the car I may as well freshen up the 1 part I'd see/touch the most. Thick padding + alcantara + speed yellow stitching by Exact Art Fabrication

I'm surprised u didn't do internals or your heads. I just don't think its worth to do the 997 intakes if you don't open the heads up somewhat still have somewhat of a bottle neck for flow.

You may be right, the 997 intakes weren't apart of the original plan, but a deal came up from another 996 so we added them in. Without a doubt I'll be able to hit my goals and these are just another piece for when I'm ready to step it up again. Either way it'll be good to have the data

Stopped by Undercover this morning to check on the progress. The car is just about done, we gave it its first start up...now its a matter of hiding some cables and getting the car tuned.

Here's the best shot I could get of the fender well intakes:

Wye pipe w/ dual Tial QRs is in place

Really liking the new exhaust tips (the previous set up was slash-cut)

Some other cool projects in the background, HKS1000 GT-R & Tommy's 996TT monster

1st start-up video (Pre-tuning)
