Default Having a PPI done today - question about over revs

I'm getting a PPI completed today on an 2002 turbo with a manual transmission, 53k miles, and what should be stock ECU programming. What is an acceptable amount of type 1 and type 2 overrevs for a car with that mileage?

I've read that type 1 is basically bouncing off the rev limiter and that the computer will max out that reading at 64,000.

Type 2 is the one to worry about. Seems like 0 is best case scenario, but most cars have some. So what would be an acceptable value here?

Thanks for the help.

It depends how long ago the Type 2 rev was hit. Get the numbers and post here and folks will help you out.

Good luck!

For stock motors, type 2 over revs can indicate a missed shift. The number indicated in over-revs is the number of spark ignitions which occur over the limit. so it's 1/3 more then the actual number of crankshaft revolutions. If your vehicle has a tune, often the rev limit is raised, to 7k, so type two over-rev's are more like type 1. The hour associated with the over-revs is the total time hours on the engine when they last occurred. You need to look at the total hours on the ecu and subtract the last hour on the over rev. That will tell you how long ago it was.
