Aftermarket Exhaust question
Hi All,
I'm considering getting an aftermarket exhaust for my turbo. There are a ton of different options out there, as well as many threads on this forum covering a range of topics. However, one topic I didn't see much info for was the gurgle. The bubbling and popping sound that can be polarizing for some.
Honestly, it was one of my favorite things on my BMW 335. The stock exhaust on the 911 just doesn't bring it out for some reason. Is there an exhaust out there that sounds great at WOT, has some added performance, and has the gurgle I've been missing?
Any insight would be great and videos would be even better!

Lots of options/opinions for exhausts.
Go to some local Cars & Coffee meets and see if there is an exhaust with the sound you like.
The Turbo exhausts are fairly pricey. I would go for used.
There is a B & B (Billy Boat) exhaust currently for sale on one of the forums for under $1700.

Many variables with exhausts, biggest issue is drone when cruising, you need to understand your acceptance of that before going further...here a couple clips

also, if you are looking for the 'popping' when you lift off the gas, that is more attributable to the engine's tune allowing fuel 'over-run', then the exhaust itself.

Fabspeed also makes some fantastic exhausts solutions for the 996 Turbo. I'd have to recommend our Supersport X-Pipe.
Our 996T Supersport X-Pipe significantly increases horsepower and torque by 32 whp and 37 ft-lbs. Includes 200-cell HJS Sport Cats and is constructed from high-quality 14-16 gauge C.N.C. mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel for optimum flow and maximum durability. It is a direct bolt on installation for factory muffler system.
Here's a video clip as well!
Contact me via PM or email for more information or other 996 Turbo Exhaust Solutions! I'll be happy to help.

Here's a video I put together of my exhaust.
I've had two versions of the exhaust. The first sounded awesome (I have another video of that version if you click on my youtube channel) but the drone was *way* too much for me. The anti-drone pipes (helmholtz resonators) really did the trick on Version 2. The car sounds amazing but the drone is nonexistent now.
