It was a speaker box screw on a brand new car.

I am not sure if mine was a speaker screw. If you look at this pic that I lifted from another website, it shows the 996 door with the panel off. If you look at my pic, the screw is a couple of inches below the front lower screw of the airbag. That is not anywhere near the speaker.

The speaker box extends along almost the entire bottom of the door. It is huge. I think it was a speaker box screw you tightened.

Fixed on my 01 996.1 C2 today. The screw in the arm rest is set in plastic and just spins round and round and round. Drilled it out but would undo with some leverage under it probably

Pretty much falling out

Screw is set in a plastic thing that just spins and spins

Hi Jakerade,
So what did you do with the screw that just spins and spins?
You took it out and left it as it is or replaced with another screw?

I also have the same issue with my 2002 C4S which has really bad rattle noise on the driver (right) side door panel and I'm yet to take the panel off.
Just doing a bit of research before going in.

Funny that this pops up. I have a bad rattle on both sides of my 04 TT Cab. Tried the above fix but the screws were not the issue.
I am now looking into following possible solution :
