Do I have this right on hunting?

Do I have this right on hunting?
1. Narrow down cars to options I want. Look at car fax
2. Contact seller, (out of state in my case). Let him know I'm interested and discuss deposit and request ppi.
3. Contact Indy and make sure ppi will include comp test, and leak down, as well as paint depth.
4. Ask you guys after ppi what general consensus is.
5. If it's a green light work out final asking price.
All of this at this point will most likely involve a car I havnt even seen or driven yet, so do I have any of these steps backwards.
If car is due for scheduled maintenance, is this something I can use to negotiate price?
Also should I expect this car to make a possible 1000 mile drive back or is it smarter to ship. Part of me says if I'm spending this money then the car better be able to make this trip or why bother.

Are you crazy? DRIVE it. The car is meant to be driven. I picked up mine in MI sight unseen and drove it back to CA. I got to know more about the car in those days through 10 states better than I have driving it a few times in the week. Go on, get a quick flight and make a story of it.

I agree, just drive it home.

When you do this you can have the seller tell you all is good and agree on a price. After the PPI just deduct what needs to done from the agreed price. Then you can fix it yourself or not.

Are you saying that you got a seller to agree to sell you the car at an agreed to price and then deduct what the PPI determines needs fixing?

Find what you like, if basics seem right then drive it, look it over, negotiate price, buy or walk.

I would ship it home as you may get lucky and have no problems but not worth the chance to me= I've had enough adventures in my life and don't need the potential headaches lol. After ppi you will have the info needed to further negotiate if need be, but I would not nit pick if I liked the car.
