I've had quite a few white cars and find them very easy to keep looking good= they just change color as they get dusty. look great with a quick wax as they hide swirls and scratches/dings are hard to notice.

Black is very tough with pollen or dust. White is tough with road grime, wheel shine, mud, dirt.
Not that I would want one, but I have not seen any coffee colored 996TTs. Anyone?

White was top of my list when I was shopping. I could only find one -- in the Chicago area -- that someone had spec'd with a blue and grey 2-tone interior he was VERY proud of. At the right price, I'd have bought it and swapped to black (as I'm doing on my SY this week) but he thought his unique interior was worth a LARGE premium.

White 996TT's always look amazing. I don't see too many of them around.

I am assuming this is it? Looks nice, but the interior is totally unique and a love it or hate it kind of thing. I am a little toward the latter so I passed.

I like white but for the 996tt, I think the darker the better. However, I passed on black and dark blue simply because of the additional upkeep required to keep it looking great.

The 996 Turbo in white is a nice looking car. Heck it looks good in any color.
If you can find a good example in white buy it.
I had a white car (and a white pick up truck). Of all the other colors I've owned: light yellow (Datsun), beige (don't ask), titanium silver (Camaro Z28), lapis blue (Boxster), galactic blue (VW), red (GTO), yellow (Cayman S), and arctic silver (Turbo), white was the easiest color to keep car looking nice. It is also a very durable color, although I'm finding my lapis blue and arctic silver cars are doing just fine in that regard.
Let me add that while you should look for a car in a color you (and your dear) wife want you want to find a good example.
Often (but not always) used car buyers are concerned about two things: Price; Condition. While this doesn't mean you buy a car that makes you jab sharp sticks in your eyes to avoid looking at the car it does mean that keep your eyes open for a white one, but if a superb example in blue shows up, maybe you want to rethink the white color?
