New to me 996TT (drove over 1500 miles home after purchase)
Well I said I was days away and it happened!!! I flew to Oklahoma city and bought a 2001 black on black 996TT with just over 22k miles on it. The car had the perfect interior I have been looking for, perfect for me that is. I am not a fan of all the carbon fiber and painted interior pieces. My preference is for a simple all leather interior. This car had it plus the Porsche emblem in the head rest which I really like. I bought it from a Porsche dealer so I probably paid about 3k too much but it really is the car I want. (except to be perfect it would have had a white exterior) The interior I would call a 9.5 out of 10 and the exterior is a 7 out of 10. I am very picky. I want to drive the car as much as possible so I won't worry about getting the first scratch since it came with the car. The car was a two owner car. The first owner had it for a year and the second owner had it the rest of the time.
I drove the car over 1500 miles home to VA. Drove from OK City to Nashville for the night. The next day I drove to Asheville NC via route 129 AKA "The Tail of the Dragon". It rained the entire trip. The tail of the dragon was covered in wet pine needles. I was determined not to leave the car buried at the bottom of the mountain so I was cautious. The next day I drove home to VA and actually saw some sunshine. I put some photos of the car along the way down below.
I have been dreaming of this car since I was ten years old and still can't believe I have one. On my drive I noticed a few things about the car. First, I have to say that you can see very well out of this car. My last street car was a 2002 ZO6 and that car was hard to see out of in my opinion. The quality of the interior is amazing. I love the sound of the motor. This car really does not require any modding, it is nearly perfect. It is a very comfortable ride for a sports car. The back seats are funny. I got in the back just to see how tight it was and started to laugh. Little kids would be squished back there. The car really only needs one seat. The DRIVERS seat.
I shot a video of the trip but it may be a while before I can compile a video.

Congratulations on a beautiful car and a great road trip! And to being a smart buyer. I've seen too many people walk away over a measly amount of money and lose out on a great car. For many people the deal is more important than the car. Paying a little over for something that floats your boat is well worth the extra cash and it sounds like you're already getting your return on investment.... enjoy the ride!

It is a 2001 and had just over 22k miles when I bought. It now has just over 24k miles on it after my three day drive in the rain. I was thinking I should have bought a boat!!
I will post better pics once the weather gets better and I have some time on my hands.

Nice car and awesome story. Shame about the downpour at the Dragon, but it probably was a higher power making sure you didn't "overextend" yourself in the first few days

Thanks for all the nice comments. Oklahoma was not exactly great but it was OK. Here is a pic of the downtown area and another of the Dragon. On my stop in Asheville I went and saw the Biltmore all decked out for Christmas with a night tour. I was going to attempt to get a pic of my car with the Biltmore in the background but the tour was over around 11PM and I was too tired.
I will get back to the Dragon in the summer...

I felt the same way when I first obtained mine, that it really did not need to be moded, but after driving it for a while that initial holy sh#t kick in the *** power becomes a normal every day thing. Don't get me wrong even in stock form its a wonderful driver. Then you start talking and find out a simple exhaust and software tune changes the car. So enjoy! Sounds like a great vehicle and welcome to the turbo side!
