Awesome trip and congratulations! Sounds like you had an awesome time I've been wanting to get down to the Biltmore for Christmas, but have yet to do so. Worth the trip to do so?

The Christmas tour is worth it. They had a ton of Christmas trees and live music and all lit with candles so do it at night.

Enjoy! Oddly, mine was delivered into Nashville and made its way to Oklahoma City at some point. (Was consigned to RAC in Dallas a couple of years after they did the R550 conversion, and my friend here locally bought it.)

The hunt for a dream car is always an awesome experience. Especially when it culminates in finding the particular car, and driving it home over 3 days. Awesome, enjoy it!

The remark about Oklahoma reminded me of something that happened to me a while ago. It was August (hotter than hell) either 1979 or 1980, my wife, 2 year old daughter, and I were driving from WI to NM in a early 60's BMW 2002. The car dies in a toll both in Tulsa at 5PM - rush hour. In stead of getting mad, people helped push the car to the side of the road, the toll booth operator got a tow truck, the BMW dealership was called, and the service manager stayed until we got there. Car was put away, the service manager found us a hotel for the night, took us there. In the morning he picked us up. The shop put my car in first thing that morning, and we were back on the road by noon. This service was from people who knew I was passing through, and they were unlikely to get repeat business from me. I have never been treated so well, or met more hospitable people - and this was before I had the economic standing to expect service. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.

Rich, That is a great story. I would like to think you would get that kind of treatment here in the DC area but I not so sure...

Chris, Nice looking car. I like red. We should get together in the spring and cruise Skyline Drive.

Ya Skyline Drive.... did a Bike ride this summer, all new tarmac ...been sometime since I taken the Porsche up on Skyline but remember couldn't quite grinning while going up on the south entrance... what a ride! Loved the ride from 66 "The Plains" to" Middleburg VA"!

Have the full carbon too... looking to switch out for all back too.

Until you've washed it for the 40th time inside of a year. Swore I'd never get another black 911, but sometimes cars find you.

I likewise got some nice service at an OKC Porsche dealer. A few years ago on a drive to Wichita Falls my 03 Turbo developed what I thought was a wheel bearing noise. Next day I called around and found the Porsche dealer in OKC could fit the car in that day. I drove back to OKC and the dealer got my car in and about 30 minutes later the tech was going over with me the cause of the noise: front tires; alignment was out a bit. He had me feel the tires and sure enough I could feel the feathering. I asked about getting the car aligned as I had a long drive (back to CA) ahead of me but the tech said except for the noise the tires would be fine in that short of distance. When I went to the SM to settle up there was no charge and the tech was right. The tires didn't wear any measurable amount and as soon as I got back home I had the alignment taken care of and after some miles and tires adapted to the new alignment the noise was gone.
