Squeaky Clutch
Apologies for not starting a new thread before ... Still learning the mobile app.
I have the below question about whether I should invest the couple of hours to investigate a squeaky clutch noise when all else appears to be working fine. Happy to invest time/money but don't want to be a hypochondriac.
Thank you

Just had an oil change and the mechanic noted (and I've been noticing) that the clutch was squeaky. He assumed it was the pedal, but then when the car was up on the lift it was clear that it was coming from the rear of the car ... Likely the same issue you were raising Kevin about the fork? Car has 38k miles and clutch feels great. no work on clutch other than new accumulator at around 25k. Mechanic said he'd need 1-2 hours to remove the starter to further isolate source of noise.

I have a very slight squeak when i push it in as well. My mechanic said not to worry about it, but i'm curious to know what the forum thinks as well

I had a slave replaced years ago under warranty due to a squeak. Sure felt like it was from the pedal to me- but they replaced the slave and has been quiet ever since.

If the squeak coming from the engine bay it could be the release bearing for the clutch or otherwise known as the throw out bearing. Normally i don't know if you can with the 996 turbo but on my toyota runx trd which has a 2zzge when i use to press the clutch i use to get a squeak i sprayed some lubricate from the source of the sound it did go away but eventually did come back then once the release bearing was changed the sound went away permanently.

^ are those not the parts that need lube when r&r'd trans work and are often overlooked? I've been reading that lube will often cure fork/ball pivot squeak. i'm sold on mine being external to the clutch e.g. spring.. though i;m wrong a good portion of the time lol

I had a squeaky clutch pedal and used some Wurth HHS-K (great stuff!), sprayed it on the helper spring area up behind the clutch pedal and my squeak went away. Start by trying this.

It's essentially a high quality WD-40. My experience with WD is that it doesn't last very long and works OK, the Wurth HHS-K is a high creep penetrating grease that lasts longer and seems to work better. Also, I think WD-40 can ruin rubber parts while the HHS-K won't damage rubber.
