bad fuel pump return line
got a problem and can use some help.
out of the blue, my fuel pump return line failed. it was squirting fuel under high pressure. didn't know it was the fuel line. thought I had bad gas or something because it was backfiring badly and stalled out.
but when the engine cover was open, I could see the fuel spraying out at the u fitting. I saw some small holes and deterioation near the just before the clamp at the ujoint. because of towing problems, I ended up cutting about 3 inches off the hose to get what I hoped were the holes. I couldn't get the clamp back on because of the shortened hose. so I used a bigger clamp for an airplane hose. it seemed to hold and I managed to get home (18 miles) but by the end, it was leaking badly again (leaking is an understatement)
the hose does a U at the back and attaches to the back of the fuel pump, but I don't see how I could get a screw driver in there, It's not quite blind but close. I"m not particularly handly but I could replace a fuel line hose if I could get to it.
1. do you have to go in from underneath the car?
2. anyone have a part number. I have a 996 turbo cab but it's been upgraded with k28s but I don't think the fuel pump is upgraded. hose is maybe 9" or a foot
assuming I can get the hose, any mobile mechanics in the Norcal vacaville to sacramento area who might be able to do it.
nornally I might have it towed but looks like it currently untowable and that's a different problem. see separate post about that.

You have to be kidding.. You dodged a bullet. Fuel spraying on the turbochargers or CAT's will quickly ruin your day..
Usually the fuel filter is next to the coolant reservoir. Take another picture not as close/tight.
