Default Diverter Valve Replacement

I'm needing to replace my DVs as they have not been replaced in nearly 70,000 miles and I'm getting CELs

I spoke with the local dealership and they made the comment that an upgrade of the diverter valve isn't needed and that it is just the rubber ring that wears out. So I should just replace them with the stock ones from Porsche.

Is there any truth to this?

Thanks!

Ask Kevin at UMW, he told me that there is a VAG part that has a brass piece or something like that which is better than the Porsche one.

Yes, the 710N from VAG is the same. I'd be willing to bet that Kevin at UMW has these in stock at a great price point.

Call Kevin. He set me up with Audi DVs for a lot less than Porsche even though they are the same.

Also, the DVs are not too bad to install if you get the long needle nose pliers from harbor freight. I got the long straight tip and the long w/90 degree turned tips.

Do you have any mods?

If yes, consider aftermarket - beefier DV.
If no, stock or VAG 710N.

I might be removing my EVOMS D.V. for 710N's if that's of any interest...
710N's should be long-living/good for ~25psi on a stock-ish sized turbo

I don't currently have any mods, but I am thinking I will probably do a simple tune and exhaust somewhere down the line. Would I benefit from an aftermarket DV?

I would recommend going AM. It provides for a better base for mods down the road.

The 710Ns are reliable, but in modified cars they will leak/bleed boost at partial throttle. Going to an aftermarket valve (shameless plug for ours) eliminates this and gives better performance and repeatability at partial throttle.

I just had a local customer replace a worn out set of aftermarket valves with some 710Ns. Afterwards he reported some weird driveability behaviors, including a honking out the intake at partial throttle. The car was tuned with another company's software. We put a new set of EVOMS valves in, the noise went away and he noticed an immediate improvement in response under those scenarios.

Do your research, see what the VAG/Audi folks are running for boost pressure. The 710N's work well for stock and tuned. The nice thing is that you don't have to remove them to clean and relube every two years. Once the aluminum piston seat gums up your boost is inconsistent.

If you hear the honking noise, you have have a blown stock/710N DV.
