DRL LED's installed
Wanted to update the look of my 996 TT front bumper. I had a Joe Toth front lip installed recently. This weekend I added some aftermarket LED lights to the bumper as well.
Turned out pretty well I think. But the install wasn't easy. Bumper had to come off and finding ways to run the wires took a bit of time.
Here are some pics from the iPhone.

Ok, here you go:
You're going to need to take off the front bumper. It's impossible to wire them up with the bumper in place. Trust me I tried.
There are lots of DIY's on front bumper removals. Here's a video for a Boxster but steps are very similar.
To power the lights as DRL (ignition on), I tapped it into cabin fuse box using one of these:

Just use it in place of a fuse assignment that is on with the ignition. I think I used C7.
Once bumper is off, decide on the location you want to put the lights, stick them on and run the wires. I hide the wires behind the grill housings.
Remove the driver side headlight. I ran the wires between the center and driver side grill from the bumper up and route them through the driver side fender. If you remove the cargo bay liner (which you have to do to remove the headlight anyway), you'll see a ground wire grounded to a bolt. I used the same bolt for grounding.
Take off the battery cover and also the driver side brake master cyclinder cover. This is where you'll route the + wire into the cabin. If you get under the dash, left of the clutch pedal, you'll see a rubber grommet with a wire bundle. I poke through the side of it using a thin screw driver, then thread a piece of wire through the hole to fish the positive wire into the cabin.
Now just hook up the wire to the fuse box tap and test the lights out with ignition on.
Tidy up the wires and re-install the bumper.
Good luck!
P.S. I plan on getting some silicon glue to seal up the small hole on the side of the rubber grommet.

To each his own........but even Chevy trucks today have DTRL.
I have two late model Pcars and one of the 1st things I did is turn off the DTRL's.
On the 996 a clean front gets many compliments.....but if it pulls your chain, go for it.

It's more about being visible to on coming vehicles, l used to turn on my headlights in daylight and now l dont have to think about it.

I'd like to second REDTURBO's request for additional pics of the install. Specifically on the where/how to run the wires? Or will it be pretty easy to see once I get everything apart?
Props for a relatively cheap, if maybe a little time consuming mod. Should be able to complete in an afternoon, no?
