Probably for cross reference purposes under some sort of agreement and as to not have to produce redundant part batches?

common in the aftermarket, as long as it doesn't have the car manufacture's name/model name (ie. Porsche or Boxster), then the product # is often used, likely due to what is a trademark and what isn't...
Some parts are identical besides having the car brand name(Porsche, etc.) ground off

just for laughs, here's a great place to pick up 500,000 generic mafs a month http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/86...6949_Mass.html

i just received my first oem bosch maf via an ebay seller for $149 us. i was relieved to see the oem box and waxy brown paper. ( does it really stay fresher this way? ) and also the part #'s embossed on the maf itself confirming it's the 986 part 218-009 or 996 ( same as ) part 124-00.

don't know about shipping to CH but at 150 US it's worth a try.

caveat emptor. there are still may knockoffs floating around ebay/amazon that "appear" to be the bosch when they are in fact, refurbs.

if it say "meets or exceeds oem " etc don't bother with it. must be the bosch part ending in 124-00. going price at normal online retailers seems to be about 225 US. though sometimes a one off deal ( got mine for 150 locally ) can be found.

i would even confirm it comes in the yellow bosch box!

I blew my MAF Saturday (well my mate who borrowed my car did), got OEM one from a guy at 6speed.

But I am having hell getting the T25 bolt thing off the MAF to get it out and I took the whole airbox vflow EVOMS thing out

Oh and get rid of the V-blow....that has been correlated to eating MAFs.

Yeah, going MAFLESS, E85 ETC, just dropped my car off today, drove her 60 miles mafless without the tune, no ABS = fun

The physics of the airboxes is messed up BTW
