this one's got more miles.
I basically told the dealer I'd pay around $41k pending a clean PPI.
I think thats realistic.

Its not for everyone, thats for sure. My 993TT is black on black, so I'd like something a little different. The silver is great for daily duty and I'm a sucker for brown.
Waiting to hear from the dealer.
thanks for the input fellas.

Having been in the market for the last 3-4 months, it seemed as though color combos effected selling time more than price.

A UK perspective. I had similar requirements to the OP and decided to buy at the bottom of the market, with the main aim to not lose a lot of value over the next 5 years or so. I just bought a correctly maintained 80k mile manual sunroof 00MY coupe with a healthy PPI for $30k equivalent, in the dead time between Christmas and new year.
It will get used alongside my 964 and 356, really to take some pressure off these two old ladies, and so won't do huge annual mileage. It had some minor cosmetic jobs which I am enjoying fixing.
At this value it is overlapping with top end of C4S market, it is the cheapest 911 turbo you can buy by some margin, and has the peace of mind from the GT1 engine of course. A friend who deals in used Porsches says the trade love them for these reasons, and also because they have more feel than the 997TT..('like driving a Subaru', he says..I have no personal experience but this would be the trend for each sucessive 911 generation).
So, I can't see values going any lower than this..how can they? Especially when you look at every previous 911 generation's price pattern..they all did a U shaped curve. The 996TT has to be at the bottom of the U! Or I am in trouble..LOL.

I was at the Kissimmee Mecum auction last month and was looking at some specific Porsches. I originally had my eye on a 2001 996TT coupe, silver with tan interior and 26,000 miles. In the pictures, the car looked clean. It sold for $43,000 + 8% buyers premium. I was glad I picked up the 2004 996TT in Atlanta for $39,900, better deal than the auction and my car is loaded with options whereas the 01 was kind of bare bones, but likewise very very clean.
Also sold for $58,000 + 8% was a 2008 black coupe 997TT with 57,xxx miles, in very good condition but not perfect.
There were several other 996 cars in the auction. A 2000 Gemballa GT Cab with 29,000 miles with carbon fiber everything, sold for $39,500 + 8%. I drove that car about two months before when it was being offered for sale at the same location that I bought the 930 slant nose and it was a nice smooth car. The guy bought it for $40,000 then tried to flip it at Mecum. He lost out on that deal.
1973 Carrera RS had a BID GOES ON at $500,000.

So I bought my 2001 996tt in the end of Feb 2010 from an infinity dealer. Was a one owner car with 41,000 miles, Arctic Silver over black, everything carbon inside, tip. Paid $37,500 plus about an additional $3k for an extended 2 year 24,000 mile warranty. I think I got a great deal and over the last 4 years I have put over 50,000 miles on it, drive it all the time (it is 1 of 4 cars I use) and have had virtually no issues with the car. I track the car 15 to 20 days per year and have only done brake system mods, flappy paddle steering wheel and a UMW tune. Car looks great and is tight as a drum and still going strong. Have never been stranded despite the hard miles she has had. My residual value could be $25-30k today. My depreciation over the 50,000 miles is about $4-5k per year. I plan on driving it a few more years and so the per year cost is bound to get even lower unless something expensive happens.
All I gotta say is WHAT A CAR!!! I offer this for historical data purposes in the context of this discussion regarding value. These cars are an incredible value and if the prices keep going up at some point I may see a profit??? If I keep it long enough...
