Default Fresh Detail Pics

I'm kind of a detail freak, but I am ashamed to say that I've never really detailed fully my 996 Turbo. So, a couple weeks ago I gave it a going through. I'm a big fan of Phil's at Detailer's Domain, and have been turned on by several of his recommendations.

I started with a regular car wash (I use Griot's car wash)
Cleaned the wheels with Sonax Full Effect
Then used Iron Cut to pull out any contaminants
Next is a clay bar treatment
Then Menzerna FG400 on a Porter Cable DA and a Griot's 3" Orbital
Followed by Sonax Nano Polish
Topped it off with a Sonax Sealer and voila!

These wheels are Satan's work to keep clean, but I do love them when they are

And on to the inside:

Full vacuum
Clean windows in/out with Griot's Window Cleaner
Treated Leather with Leatherique (yuck! Never Again)
Sealed painted parts with Griot's One Step Sealer

Fantastic! Nice work on that great car. I have been buying from Phil for years and been to his shop. You are inspiring me to work on my black beauty. Move from a PC to a Flex if you are inclined. The Flex cut my time in half over a PC with same or better results.

I usually like to throw on a carnuba wax (PS10 for me) to make it pop after the nano.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I've tried it on about 3 cars, and I think it ends up being a sticky mess. It felt like I spending more time buffing the seats then the rest of the car. There HAS to be a better way. I was going to try LeatherMasters, but Phil was out when I went to order.

I'm due for a new orbital, my PC is about 10 years old. I've been looking at the Rupes some too. My next big detail project is the wife's grocery getter, a black MB GL...that may require a more powerful tool.

Do you wax after the sealer?

They clean up easy, but a quick drive down the street, and they're dusty again! Too bad they didn't invent performance dustless pads yet

I always wax. Just gives it some pop. I always apply that by hand.

I know Phil started to just love the Rupes. Before that the big thing was the Flex. Not sure price points. Never tried the Rupes, but I can say the Flex was night and day to a PC. I sold my PC on Ebay for like $100 too! I don't miss it.
