Default Help! PSM, ABS, now check engine.....

2003 996 TT. Tiptronic.

Only mods are PES flash, open airbox and methanol injection.

I have been having issues with PSM and ABS failures. Tried all the usual, new MAF, wiring harness, smoke test for boost leaks. Porsche dealer had it for 2 weeks and they couldn't solve it, though it's....changed.

At first, they would fail randomly, but very frequently. Couldn't drive more than 5 minutes without a failure.

After the dealer got through with it, it only happens occasionally, but almost always under very light acceleration. Usually from a stop, 2nd-3rd gear. I'll give it a little gas, and it will fail around 3k rpm. Turning off the car will clear it for about 40 minutes to an hour, then it will happen again.

Then last night it changed. Cruising along at 50-60mph in 5th, I punch it, expecting it to downshift to 3rd and rocket me forward. Instead, it downshifted to 3rd, got to about 3k rpm, then everything went nuts. Engined bogged down severely, stuck at around 3.2k rpm. full throttle, but it wasn't accelerating. Then the check engine, psm and abs warnings came on. Also, something smelled like it was burning (though since it was only the once, couldn't tell if it was me or something outside).

I restarted the car and drove it very cautiously from there, no more warnings. But I'm scared to drive it aggressively at all. Will be bringing it to PES next week, but thought I'd ask for advise here as well.

Thanks!

I'd recommend starting here.

Where are you located? A Porsche dealership is not going to understand much as it relates to your aggressive mods. You need to work with someone like Kevin at UMW or the Promotive guys.

Flash back to stock and see if the codes return. My bet is on the "open air box" what ever that is....if the air is turbulent entering into the MAF, you'll fry it.

+1 on geting away from a dealership. you'd be amazed at how little they understand mods. which in your case don't sound very "supportive". gl w it.

Yeah, the mods are about 3 years old, so I don't think that's it (though I'm open to advise). I have a call into PES (I'm in Philly) and would also love to hear suggestions on good places around here for service.
