Aerokit spoiler question - answered
I have an opportunity to acquire a brand new factory aerokit decklid/spoiler combo for a great price.
The unit is missing the brake light and latch. I can pull these from my existing lid.
I have read that there may be a specialized wiring harness that should accompany this unit in order to defeat the spoiler malfunction warning. Is this accurate?
I don't want to get this piece only to find that I need a special wiring harness that is n/a.
Thanks for the help,
D
ps
I already realize that I'll also need to obtain an aero front lip to properly and safely compliment the aerodynamic benefits of the rear spoiler.

I found my answer in another forum.
Funny enough, it was Rennlister that had provided the answer....

You're on quite the slippery slope lately!
Did you get that Europipe off the other forum? Your cars gonna be great!

OK...you caught me.
I missed the Europipe. The seller claimed I was the 3rd person to contact him. It was only 39 minutes from the time he posted it! I know the guy who grabbed it. He's listed it onto ebay for $3500. If it were an EP2, I'd probably go for it.
I think I'm going to pass on the aerokit wing. After a bit more research, I may do the GT2 conversion...if anything.
So...on top of the UMW tune, wastegate kit, numeric shifter that I've added in the last few months...my recent binge included...
Silver Hood crest
RUF aluminum pedals
GT2 Wheels
New set of Michelin PS2's, of course
RUF PSS9's
GT3 rear swaybar
Adjustable drop links (tbd)
I'm going to take a breather until I find that elusive lightly used EP2.

He is online right now. Make a post there so he can contact you. Let me know if you need any help.
Also...I have no affiliation to this seller. Caveat emptor.

I currently am in the "spoiler warning" disable saga.
I can tell you the wiring harness is not 996-612-070-51. That one does not have the 3rd brake light output.
Just ordered the 996 612 070 04, should be here in ~4 days.
There is also 99661207055, costs ~250 and is in Germany.

You're welcome. FWIW, I noticed you are in Norcal...so is this wing.
That's the saga I wish to avoid. I hope your latest harness does the trick.
I like the wing. Especially on red.
I'm not a big fan of the old school aero lip for the front spoiler. I wouldn't do the rear without the front. Whichever direction I go, it must be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing to me.
I considered going GT2 front and aerokit rear. I decided it was probably best not to monkey around with factory proven matched sets.

You mean you don't like the complementary aero lip? and not expensive to renew if damaged - takes a few minutes.
As far as I know doing a GT2 front end is major coin.

To do that GT2 conversion properly is not cheap. That is one reason I may not go forward with it. The stock look also has the benefit of looking comparatively "low key".
I enjoy driving fast, mostly on twisty canyon roads. I do not enjoy street racing with other drivers. I think the body kit, in any form, seems to provoke others into challenging you to a "race". As it is, I get everything from minivans to honda's trying to challenge me at stop lights....and then they get pissed when they "lose". Strange.
I see you live in Gretna. I have a few friends down in the big easy, including Abby...who is the sales manager at the Porsche dealership in Metarie. Good guy and very knowledgeable about Porsches.
BTW, your car looks fantastic!

Th Dude.
Yes, I know Abby very well. I go over to the Porsche dealers quite often for coffee and chat with him. He's into 928's
In fact i was on my way over there a couple of weeks ago when my rear tyre blew out. I fitted the spare to carry on. When i got there they fitted a new 19" Bridgestone RE 050A tyre on the rear for me, it was not the same brand as my other 3 but it was all they had. I drove the 15 miles home with it then ordered and fitted one to match my other three.
Consequently i have a $435 {$504 balanced and fitted] tyre with only 15 miles on it that i don't have any use for!
PS Not having used the spare before I was not aware that it can be collapsed and re-stowed for further use. I thought it was a one-off deal.
Appreciate your comments about the car.
I'll tell Abby we communicated.
