Question Location of PSM Control Unit

I got a PSM error today. The Durametric says Error 4460 Pressure Sensor. I got the troubleshooting guide for this error and it tells me to check some voltages and resistance on the pressure sensor connector. What I get is a 5V reading on pin 2 which should be less than 0.3V. If it is 5V then it says to check the connection to pin 26 of the PSM control unit. I have searched all the forums and cannot find anything that tells me where the PSM control module is located.

Can anyone tell me the location of the PSM control module?

You can see the PSM pump below the brake master cylinder. The connector is just downstream from it.

I see that. Is the PSM control unit built into that or is it separate? The part number shows it as a unit similar to the DME. I suspect that it is mounted under the rear deck area with the DME but want to make sure before I remove the subwoofer.

It's integral part of the PSM unit. Brain's located in the same black plastic part than the plug.

Got it. I was looking for a module in the rear that did not exist in this model. Thanks, that saves me from removing the subwoofer. I still get the 4460 Pressure sensor code. I have checked the possibility of a short to voltage and short to ground. All of the checks come out OK. The module is sending out a +5V on the signal line. I am stumped. I have ABS/PSM error on the instrument cluster and nothing on the Durametric. I am going to call Owen at Durametric tomorrow and see why. I am sure that the error codes would help me get this mystery solved.

Check if your brake lights are coming on; that was the problem when I got this code. The sensor on the brake pedal itself failed.

WOW sure as sh**... Pressed the pedal about 10 times no failure, Kept pressing and viola...fail at about 15 presses and failed for a few presses then came back on working. Ordered a new switch...now to figure out how to replace it...next search. Thank You.

It's easy, hardest part is getting positioned so you can see above the pedals. Twist the sensor at top of brake pedal arm 1/4 turn, then unplug the harness and it is out. Reverse for reinstall. It is much harder to install the new one for some reason for many people, seems like tolerances changed or something.. I had to lightly grip it with channel locks to get the leverage to twist the new one in..

It was an annoying issue, took a bit to find since the code is so vague.. Read of people spending thousands of $ at dealers/indy shops trying to trace it when at the end of the day, just a simple switch.

Totally agree. It is a needle in a haystack and you found it.

I found the destructions in the shop manual. Sounds pretty easy...always does...
I will let you all know how it turns out and if it solves the problem for future reference.

Had the same problem a few months ago. It was the brake switch as others have suggested.

Well I wanted to give it a few weeks to make sure but I have not had any lights since replacing the brake light switch. And it was pretty easy other than getting my old body under the dashboard.

For future searching efforts for people the code I got from the PST2 was 4460 Pressure Switch. Very vague especially since it throws PSM and ABS errors.

Thank You all
