Default Seat Recline Problem

Hey Guys and Gals,

2002 996tt - Adoptive Sport Seats - Manual back/front with power recline.

Last year my recline worked fine. Over winter I neglected the car a bit during storage and the battery drained fully... I charged it, and now battery is fine, car runs perfect except the seats (both) won't recline..

Any tips?

Do you have any codes?

The following points must be observed during vehicle diagnosis:
♦ The stored seat and mirror positions are retained after the battery
is disconnected.
♦ After the battery is connected, volatile memories must be re-programmed.
In the case of radio coding and tuning, the customer
must be informed of decoding and the deleted tuner memory.
♦ After the battery has been connected, the instructions in the
assembly 9; Rep. Gr. - ; Work instructions after disconnecting
the battery must be observed.
♦ After troubleshooting or repairs, erase the fault memory with the
9588 Porsche System Tester ll and then read out the fault memory
again.

I don't have a CEL..

My mirrors move, just the seats recline.. Radio works fine.

So could be a codebin the computer which you need special Porsche tools for?

I see your original post was from 2013.

There should be a connector under the seat (for the seat wiring) which enables it to recline. You might check that the connector is not damaged or unplugged.

That was the problem with mine which resulted in "no seat recline." Fixed the connector and it worked as designed.

You may want to check the fuses for the seats (might be E3 & E4 IIRC) and inspect all of the wiring under the seats carefully.

A code reader from your local auto supply will allow you to check for error codes.

If I had a failure after storing the car for the winter, I would check for rodent damage
they love insulation for whatever reason
