so after over a month of letting the car sit in the garage untouched I decided it was time to get it out again. I replaced the slave cylinder and accumulator with the OEM parts, decided not to do the GT2 just because ehh..

The replacement was not hard at all, a bit over and hour, the car felt so much better but after 2 days it started making a squeaky noise, like a spring compresing ?? what should I look for??

Where is the noise coming from? Inside (spring) or in the engine bay...does it squeak all the time? with the clutch engaged?

it seems to come from under the car and it does everytime I engage the clutch

Folks the throw out bearing forks are wearing. The grease in the needle bearing and nylon bushings are wearing at 60K.. I highly doubt it is the slave. It sounds like in the bell housing with the fork making the noise. You can pull back the rubber boot on the slave and put a small amount of lube on the actuator rod.

ok but the car was not making that noise at all before replacing the slave, I changed it to a brand new one and the sounds did not come up until 2 days later.

Do you have a pic of the parts you are talking about?

Do you have a new clutch? The slave connects to other components. That is what I am talking about. Search for the 996TT manual and study the components. I highly doubt that your slave is squeaking. Did the tech lube up the fork ball receiver? This is where the piston /rod sits in the fork.

it has a gt2 clutch but it isnot new, I just spoke to my friend/mechanic I guess we are going to take the whole thing apart again and figure it out. Btw we followed the manual and it did not say anything about lubing any parts (not sure if he did)

You do know that the GT2 clutch does not allow you any more clamp force vs the standard turbo clutch. If you have a tune or uprated turbochargers your GT2 clutch will fail at the same time as your stock clutch failed. Porsche sells clutch fork /throw out bearing assy grease.

The clutch was replaced at the time the turbos were upgraded and so far it has held up quite well. I'll look into the grease, thank you for the info

ohh do we just apply the grease to the slave and insert it or do we have to take any more parts out to do it?

Just had an oil change and the mechanic noted (and I've been noticing) that the clutch was squeaky. He assumed it was the pedal, but then when the car was up on the lift it was clear that it was coming from the rear of the car ... Likely the same issue you were raising Kevin about the fork? Car has 38k miles and clutch feels great. no work on clutch other than new accumulator at around 25k.

Mechanic said he'd need 1-2 hours to remove the starter to further isolate source of noise.

+2 about changing the clutch fork and throw-out bearing (and rear seal). Didn't have a squeak, but a good idea to replace them anyway while you are in there for other things; like this:

i'm going with not enough lube on actuator rod as mine does same after a few k miles on new clutch. knowing my backyard crew, they didn't lube it, but simply put in new parts. dammit. was hoping it was just a squeaky helper spring.

Mine was just diagnosed with a squeaky clutch fork and quoted $5600 by local dealer to replace it, although service tech admitted that clutch feels great. Is there a risk of failure of any sort here? Wondering if it's fine waiting until I actually need a clutch?

It's totally fine unless it somehow starts binding up and not actuating smoothly.
