I installed new belt idlers and tensioner and put it back together. Parts guy warned me the noise was probably the water pump and he's almost certainly right. :-( Back to square one.

Well that's no fun, I have the Pierburg pumps pretty cheap on the website.

Do the Pierburg's have a metal impeller?

Pierburg is the OEM brand that comes in those pretty Porsche boxes, so composite impeller. I do have pumps too with metal impellers.

Could I get you to post some more pics showing the whole rear of the car? Trying to get a better idea of how it looks with the rest of the body. I feel like it is a great change.

I assume the sounds you are hearing sound something like a power steering pump low on fluid? At least that is what it sounds like to me on my car. I was thinking of doing exactly what you are doing now.

It's a grinding noise that sounds like a bad bearing. It's gotten worse so its next trip is to a shop. Uncle.

I guess what I'd pass along is be sure they need replacing before pulling it apart. It was a little trickier than I expected.

Well, not really today, but within the last week I finished getting few parts wrapped in alcantara and also got another set of wheels to switch out with my Champions once in a while. I had no plans on buying another set but couldn't pass them up for the price.

Could be your reservoir, looks like TSKY has the new 997 one.

Congrats Rob on achieving a significant milestone with your gorgeous GT2!

Hey, maybe the GT2 acronym will mean Get To 200,000 km's in your case!

Here's to hoping that happens for you!

Good eye! Yes, I had the reservoir replaced because of the noise it made. It made a high pitched whining noise that would go away if you engaged the clutch. I remember being peeved because the car was just out of warranty.
