Carlo,

Not 100% sure on the radiators but most likely a combo of rocks hitting them and also the salt, grit, gravel accumulating in the nooks and crannies of the radiator air dam's.

Missed this when you first posted it, but have to reply: Impressive miles.

Your Turbo with 300K miles makes my 03 Turbo at 66.6K miles (56K I added since I bought it used in June '09) seem new by comparison.

I had an offer to buy my Turbo the other day but decided to keep the car and continue to drive it and see what happens.

(BTW, my 02 Boxster now has over 243K miles. Original engine. Original clutch.)

Sincerely,

Macster.

• right front bearing, left rear bearing
• front diff (due to front bearing issue)
• clutch accumulator and slave cylinder (4 times now for the slave - one time lasted only 4 days and it failed - PCNA pulled all the parts on the shelves in the US as a result of this and a few others in the country with a similar issue)
• wiring harness repair (passenger side front most cylinder – harness to the coil pack chaffing issue)
• rear main seal (while engine was down for a wiring harness repair we pulled the tranny to inspect the bearings, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel)
• two bearings in the clutch assembly – one was bad, one was fine
• Decarbon the secondary air ports from the intakes to the exhaust
• Gas cap – the gasket finally went at 186,000+ miles
• Check valve and carbon canister on the vapor recovery system for the fuel tank
• normal services done on time
• brake pads (only on the 4th rear set and 5th front set - car has PCCB's and is tracked 6-10 days/year)
• oil changes every 5000 miles religiously – Mobil 1 0W-40
• tranny and diff fluids every 60,000 miles
• Baileys DV's
• GT-3 Cup front brake ducts
• Idler pulleys
• Belt (done a couple of times)
• Suspension will be replaced shortly (KW Clubsport)
• Carden shaft will be replaced (second time now) when the suspension is done
• All four half shafts will be replaced with the suspension
• Motorsport Sways and Tarett drops links will be replaced with the suspension
• Protomotive intercoolers going in when suspension is done
• Two rear heat shields will be replaced when the suspension is done

The car is on the original turbo's, original clutch and original engine still.

To all,

To tje point on tires - I have used the Pirelli P-Zero Assymetrico's since I bought the car and have used Dunlop Winter Sports for the winter exclusively. Tirerack must like me as I have been through alot of tires. Pirelli just recently discontinued the P-Zero Assymetricos so it has a newer model Pirelli that the name escapes me right now.

To the point on the radiators - the winters and salt, debris, rocks, etc just beat the heck out of the front radiators.

I recently brought it in for a complete suspension rebuild including KW Clubsport coilvers, Porsche OEM Motorsport adjsutable sway bars, Tarett adjustable drop links, half shafts on all four corners, cardan shaft, corner balance, alignment, upgraded to Protomotive larger intercoolers and a major service - she is running like brand new again!!

T2 - continues to knock on wood................

T2 do you mind sending in a oil sample to Blackstone for testing? This would give the Rennlist community a benchmark that we have just not seen. Have you ever inspected your oil filter?

I would think Porsche would very much enjoy sharing this story. They are always advertising in literature the high percentage of their fleet still in service (somewhat biased of course by the garage queens that don't get out much). Heck, maybe even swap you for a new one so they can tout this on the Stuttgart floor.

Kevin,

I change the oil every 5000 miles with 0W-40 Mobil 1 - I have never inspected or torn apart an oil filter to see what is in there.

I'll contact Blackstone and see what they recommend for tests - in looking at their offerings it appears to be very extensive - what baseline testing has everyone else done so there would be a similar comparison of results.

Thanks

T2
