Headliner Removal?
Okay, I've used the search feature here, around the corner and across the street to no avail.
Sooo, does anyone have advice on removing the headliner in my 01TT? I have some rattling going on up there and it's probably some sunroof cables...maybe?
Regardless, it's getting annoying and I need to fix whatever it is.
TIA

I have a .pdf of the instructions you need, but can't upload it with my reply because it exceeds the forum attachment file size. PM your email address if you wish and I'll send it that way.

it is the wire though you can feel it and also might be able to snap it back into its groove or whatever its slipped out of. it's nothing "broken".

I just gutted my interior for the full cage so might as well post this for you guys
1. Use an interior tool or a very small flat head screwdriver to pry off the black clips in the visors. You find two torx screws under each visor.
2. For the center light and sunroof panel, use the same tools to pry off the two little black plastic covers and you'll find two phillips screws under them. The light will come off fairly easily and can just be unplugged.
3. Once you pull the large plastic piece off you'll have two additional phillips screws to take out.
4. Now you can start pulling the front of the headliner off since it just clips in.
5. Move to the drivers and passenger side. Take off the plastic trim pieces and the two gold torx screws (one on each side).
6. Move to the back, the very back of the headliner will pull off the same way the front did with clips. See #4.
7. The tricky part is the metal rod about 2/3 back and runs in between the headliner and the roof. It clips into this small black slot that is connected to the sunroof assembly. I pulled the whole assembly off
8. Now move to the sides and you find two additional metal rods that need to come off the black clips. I used an interior tool but a screwdriver to pry them off would work.
9. If you want to take the whole sunroof and headliner off in one piece, just unplug the water vents and take out ~8 gold torx screws. If not, open the sunroof and the rest of the headliner should come off.

so... is it the "rod"?? or the "cable" whatever is the cause it is as annoying as an a pillar rattle that once had me and me and a pcna rep agonizing over it and the solution for MONTHS. that however was a new rattling car.
can anyone be so kind as to email me also the pdf? to repair my appreciation will know no bounds! pls pm if its readily available, it will come back to you in spades! Thanks in advance!

If the noise is coming from the back, it's probably the larger metal rod (no cables) pictured below that is unseated. Just add some glue/filler to the plastic rod ends to tighten it up. If not, it's a broken plastic clip rattling around.
