I am glad that the AMAT ad featuring the Porsche is still remembered! The ad agency I own created the film [one of a series of tv, print, outdoor ads shot in Spain, Japan, China, India and USA. These were all challenging to produce and I've dined out on telling some wild stories about making them. Former Nascar bad boy Bobby Unser Jr was out stunt driver. Foot & Mouth disease closed the borders in Europe and made getting our cars into Spain for the shoot very tough. Then bad weather grounded our helicopter and we had to work out quite a deal with the Guardia Seville to keep the National Park closed for an extended period. Sammy Hagar is a neighbor and his daughter went to school with my daughter - hence, albeit for a fee, we got that music track. Whole point of the campaign was to get Applied Materials noticed and remembered by the investment community / media. They were unknown and undervalued as a brand compared to other important tech firms like Intel, Cisco. Again, after all this time, it's nice to hear the work was appreciated. www.whittyworldwide.com

AMAT Commercial
Hi, its now 20 years later than your original post. I found it by trying to get my hands on that commercial that was mistaken for a Porsche commercial. Unfortunately there are no easy copies to be found even today. I did have one but its in terrible condition and a format that is basically useless. I have no idea why this commercial, one of three, is not anywhere to be found. It was great in the day, sorry.
Addendum to original reply: I checked my HD and found it however it does work and in better resolution than the last time that I looked. This is probably the only existing copy that I know of. I got one of the software guys to download it off AMAT TV way back when. I'll try to attach later.

Only thing that could have outmatched this epic reboot is if it were a “still for sale?” 1st post. 😀

I hear you as I have made some good money with their stock. The idea of the commercial was to help their stock by making it more visible to the world.
The other car in that commercial was to signify their competitors.
