are you talking about a steering wheel???
I changed mine recently in ~ 12 minutes.
Check the regular 996 / 986 forums, they may have a DIY

It was a pretty straight forward swap. Should not take you more than 20 min from removal to install. Making the horn work properly may be a bit trickier.

Yeah, I mean the steering wheel...I imagined the principle was pretty similar to changing the wheel on my M3, which I managed no problem, but there were a couple of little tricks and things to look out for that if I had not found a good guide on the internet, I would have struggled with for hours.

Issues such as the horn etc you describe was exactly what I was hoping for some help with.

I found a guide on the 996 forum, but it was for a different wheel & made no mention of the cup wheel specific parts.

Cheers, Mark

Pretty much same process for that wheel though, and same process across 911 range. Everything in here:

Getting the horn working was a challenge for me.

In the end, it appeared to be intermittent and subject to how far the steering column is telescoped. In certain positions of extension, there was no contact possible.

I have it working, but now leave the steering wheel position fixed.

Cheers

Matt
