I have brought the orange Function first transmission mount inserts already - whats the difference that I would notice between the solid ( Rennline) mounts and the semi solid type? What are the knock sensor issues that I have seen referred to with solid mounts? Thanks

Solid mts will really increase the NVR
Personally the semi solids are great for street and track
My friends who race, use solid = shake rattle and roll

Make sure your OEM tranny mt is still good if you use the insert. Mine was toast with < 30k miles and limited track, so I used the Tarret.

Thanks, how can you tell if the original mount is knackered? And what does NVR stand for? I googled it but nothing came up. I guess it's to do with the transmitted vibration, but would like to know the exact meaning.

I think it's the semi solids in that case....Thanks for the advice.

I'm semi solid 75A in both engine and trans, engine mounts don't add very much NVH, but trans does add an appreciable amount, fits well in a GT 911 but a Turbo/Carrera owner may not like it
NVH is Noise, Vibration, Harshness

FWIW I cant tell huge difference between engine/trans upgrades vs stock, but I already had a lot of stiffness in the car before adding these bits. Slight NVH but nothing an exhaust system wont fix

I have the oem rs mounts and really like them...no perceivable increase in nvh at all. HOWEVER, on my 997.1 gt3 I installed a set of the 75d "street" transmission mount inserts made by torque solutions. Yeah, no go. I don't mind extra noise and volume (I'm not some geezer...was running cup bypass pipes at the time), but I found the extra nvh unbearable. It wasn't just louder, it was louder in a bad way...like a constant buzzing that was intrusive and annoying.

I'm curious if any of you who have tried the function first inserts or a different brand of mount (like tarrett) had the same experience. I was stoked to eliminate extra slop from the drivetrain but at least with the torque solutions bushings, it was not worth the trade-off for a primarily street-driven car.

Scott I have the mid range function first insert in my car (orange) and it's not bad at all. A very light humming/whine but certainly not cup car like.

You can't tell the OEM tranny mt is good till you pull it out.

Less $ to put in Tarret than buying a new OEM + the insert

You have to remove the bracket that holds the mount in place. Once you have done that you will be able to see the rubber "guts" of the mount. In most cases the mount will either be sagging or the rubber will have torn away from its metal housing.

I was hoping for cup car noise after installing solid engine mounts and orange rennline semi solid trans mount. Very disappointed that it hardly changed the noise at all. Car feels tighter so that's a big plus.

Is the carpet stripped out? I always thought that would make a big difference but my car is not quite on that level of strip.

Carpet is still in. That's probably the issue
