Default Rear control arms slipping

I dropped off my car for an alignment this morning, and apparently the eccentric bolts for adjusting rear camber (NOT toe) are slipping, and my mechanic doesn't think they'll hold up to track use if he just re-tightens them.

He's recommending adjustable rear control arms- same as what's stock in front, as well as a locking plate that replaces the eccentric.

Is this a common problem? His claim is that the solid bushings and R-compounds I'm running are what's caused this to happen.

Thanks,
Larry

I don't know if it is common, but that's what I run. I use 2-piece LCA on the back and locking plates installed!

Same here! Two piece "beefy" set-up is the way to go...

Sounds pretty common. I went to locking centrics on mine with adjustable LCA on the rear as well and haven't had any problems since.

I had a similar problem, and use 2 piece LCAs as well. Can anyone provide a picture of the locking plates you are using so I can confirm what I need?

TIA

Here is a picture. I believe my shop purchased these from Tarett.

If you've ever done an alignment on your car you will realize why the eccentric bolt (EB) sometimes slips. The issue is the fact that as you are adjusting the EB, due to the nature of it's design, it is very easy to have it go slightly "****-eyed" as you adjust it relative to the mount it sits in. When it happens, you have to relieve the load on it by raising the car to allow you to recenter it. If you don't do this and just tighten the eccentric back down, it will later slip under load. This is what people are seeing. The reason is the fact that many shops rush through the alignment procedure without checking that the camber EB is nice and "square" before tightening it down. This is hard to explain and envision unless you have done the alignment on your car yourself. If you have, then you know what I'm talking about. I have never ever had my eccentric slip on my car which is heavily tracked...

It's also impossible to get a torque wrench on that back nut. Closest option is crows foot on adapter to torque wrench.

I didn't know tarret sold these, I've had problems with the camber eccentric moving on mine from time to time. It's only ever been minor changes to camber but the main problem is that when the camber alters the toe usually changes with it.
I thought the best position for the eccentric to sit though was at 6 o'clock position?

Got it back from the shop, with new Tarett parts installed just like in serickson's picture.

I'm heading to the track tomorrow, if all is well- this should be an invisible change.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

went to order(since I'm already doing caster bushings, LCA monoballs, toe-links, wheel bearings) new OEM/TRW rear LCA's this week, seems to be a national shortage
Might just go to 2-piece arms, and will get my own locking plates laser burned...not sure why they are '$100' parts...

is this a common problem? seem to read lots about toe links moving but not the control arms. I just had locking plates fitted to mine last week and the car re-aligned as my toe had moved, wish i'd seen this thread earlier.

I'm experience the same thing. Looking for two-piece lower control arms and locking plates.

Mark everything with a paint pen and you will know for sure! Cheap insurance, no guessing!
