Have suffered a failure of the valves saying hello to one piston. Have photos and awaiting a report. Am being told that is probably due to over revving. Am not convinced, any thoughts out there?

Got to Piwis (or Durametrics) and pull the data of the ECU, look for "R1" (this should not be a problem, as these over revs are by "touching" the limiter), but, if you have any "R2", ..then this could VERY well be the case !! (Normally you can get "R2" by miss-shifting, these are serious over revs.)
You can see the hour at which the last "R2" (if any !!), and by looking at the current hour of the engine, yo can know (by difference) when it did occurred.

Many thanks for this. Indeed correct I had an R1 and that caused the valve kiss then when checking there was an R2 from 200 hours ago......before I purchased. Accident probably waiting to happen. Now need a new cylinder head .....sob sob !

r1 will not cause this prob
r2 occurred 200 hours ago? if so, that's not the cause either.
perhaps just wear tear. how many hours on engine and how much of it was track hours?
