Default Advice - How many over revs is too much

Hi all

looking at buying a 6Gt3 at around with 19k miles on - just got the over rev report

range one - 5022 - 487 hrs
range 2 - 0

total op hours 490

is that too high? asking about 63K for car

thanks very much have not done a PPi yet , but tempted not to go for it.

^Agreed. Let's just not see any more in range #1 after the 487 hour mark, until you have bought it. No more test drives by some dipstick.

That's nothing but somebody have a few seconds of cumulative fun bouncing of the rev limiter. If anything, I'd be worried if there were NO type 1 over-revs.

Car is cobalt blue with no real track goodies on - owner says has not tracked it - not bothered either way but was concerned about number of type 1 over revs!
19k miles - ceramics - but 63k seems a bit high.
Will be doing PPI next week.

Get it bought, and just to motivate you even more here's a picture of my Cobalt 996.2 Club Sport with 13,000 miles. Ceramics too!

Keep in mind, a range #1 over-rev on a 996 GT3 is 8,200-8,800 RPM. Range #2's (bad) start after 8,800 RPM.

That report is still fine.

Hi LVDell, the numbers I've always seen (from Loren on Renntech) say 8,200 RPM. So once you exceed 8,200 you'll start pinging overrevs in range #1. I guess that makes sense, since redline on the 996 GT3 is 8,200....right?

If you saw it at Summit Point with Trackdaze, that was my car- glad you liked it!

I definitely agree with Cobalt Blue as one of the better, more unusual colors for a GT3. I've been lucky enough to own 2 of them in Cobalt.

Redline is 8200 which is why I corrected your 7300 over rev statement as 7300 isn't an over rev. An over rev would be a rev over the fixed redline of 8200. As far as the exact number the DME registers an over rev count, I'll defer to those with PAG documentation.
