Default Airbag failure light.. can one reset it by unplugging the battery?

Swapped seats a few times in the past and never had the problem (always remember to plug in the seatbelt wiring before the key goes into the ignition). Today when I was cleaning the carpet, I slide the seat a little bit too quickly and the seatbelt wiring came undone and the airbag failure light lights up..

Need to take care of that next time going to the shop or I can just undo the battery and reset it that way?!

Not a big deal. I have to go to the shop for inspection prior to my next DE anyway, so will make sure that it was reset at the time. But was just wondering if it is something that I can do at home.

Thanks for the response!

Nope, need a Durametric or the dealer. How did you trigger an airbag light?

I must have tied up the seatbelt receptacle wiring a little bit too short, so when I was sliding the race bucket seat all the way to the front or back (for carpet cleaning, etc.), the connector came undone. (Although I had a zip tie around it, but it still popped out, I guess I didn't do a good job w/ the zip tie!)

I do an angled zip ties so it's more secure. But we've all triggered an airbag at some point. Another reason I have a Durametric

Yes, if your shop will reset it for free than have them do it. I have seen dealers charge a diagnostic fee which can be $200!. Durametric is a good anternative especially if the dealer is going to charge.

Eric, worst case - I have a Durametric cable. Will be at NHMS on Aug 7-8. Or I could mail it to you.

Dave, no worry.. when I take it to the shop next time, they will switch it off.. they forgot to do so last time when I was in, but they said that it will be quick, not a problem.. !
