Default Fabspeed or Fister?

Looking for a sound upgrade to my 996. I like a deeper, more guttural sound. Based on videos of each, it seems the Fabspeed is more to my liking. That doesn’t mean the Fister sounds bad—because it doesn’t—I think I just prefer the Fabspeed sound. But, in all honesty, it’s hard to tell from a video. I’ve never heard either in person.

I’m wondering who has experience with either one of these (or both) and looking for opinions/reasons why one might be better than the other. While they both produce great sounds, there’s a significant difference in price and benefits.

So I have tried Fabspeed Supercups and Maxflos on my 996. Here is the Supercups:

The supercups sound great on the track as you can see but I did have drone at 2500-2700 that drove me crazy on the highway. My wife hated them when I left in the morning too. So I went to Maxflos and it really has been perfect with no drone. The sound may not be quite as loud on the track but really its good enough.

I also have some bypass pipes that I bought from someone for $120 that I never used because I was happy with Maxflos. While they are not fabspeed, they look identical. If you want, them I would sell them for what I paid. Low investment in the event you don't like it.

I have heard great things about fister but never had them on my car.

I responded on the FB post too - but I have had both on my 997. I currently run the Fisters but had the bypass on for a year... I loved them both.

The Fisters are definitely more subtle. Something about the bypass pipes though....

Make your life less expensive and get the ones from NHP instead.... I can't fathom paying that much for 2 pieces of pipe from Fabspeed. OR - the really inexpensive way to see what you like is this - go to the local muffler place and have them bend you 2 pipes for $50 to try out. See if you like the bypass and go from there.

I've got a lot of good advice here! From what I've been reading here, and other places, I think the Fabspeed is going to be overkill for me. I don't want drone, my 996 is a pretty much a daily driver for me, but I attend a lot of car events with it… however, I don't track or race the car, so I don't need the crazy, insanely loud option. Just a little more meaty sound. The Fabspeed Maxflow setup was recommended, but that has quite a price tag on it. Regardless, I have a lot of options now I hadn't heard of or considered prior. Lot's to think about!

Before you decide check out Tubi.
Fabspeed and cargraphic are good.
Let me know if you haven't heard Tubi yet.

I love my tubi
But it's not deep
It's more exotic Italian sounding

I bought a used set of Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers last year. I'm very pleased with the sound -- a little louder than the stock mufflers with a deeper, throaty tone. Maybe it's because I have a cab, but I do not notice any droning. I also bought the Fabspeed quad tips; I don't know if these make any difference in sound, but the finish quality is excellent and I like the way they look.

I had a previous set which I think may have been Cargraphic that I did not like....for me Maxflo was finally what I am happy with after a half a dozen different set ups. If I were you, I would wait for a used set and pay 50%

I loved the Fisters I had on my 993, so decided to go that route for my 996.

In fact I just picked up my mufflers from Darin yesterday, and will be installing them this weekend.

One of the reasons I went with Tubi, they are not that loud until you accelerate a little harder than conventional driving.
At idle my suburban with stock exhaust is louder than my 996 with Kline long tube headers, 200 cell X pipe and Tubi Style mufflers.

I really miss my Tubi mufflers. The sound - complete with the burble when you get off the gas - is unparalleled for M96 mufflers, and I've listened to a lot of M96-powered cars.
