Wow thats cool. As far as I know almost all 911s are tested on the Nurburgring as far back as the 80s.

the main focus point of that test rig is to focus on oil starvation. The M96 has many other issues other than oil starvation during prolonged cornering.

Please list a few of the 'many other issues' the M96 has during high G corners other than oil starvation related. I'm unaware of these others.

The other issues are ever present and are not related to high G cornering.

I could swear I've seen a clip with a Porsche engine in a rig like that over 10 years ago.

If you click on the link and scroll down it describes the Porsche test stand that was developed in 2008 with a video.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that the Porsche rig video is from 2008 and the IMSB redisign for NA 911's changed went away for MY2009... ? Makes me wonder how long they've had that simulator.

Porsche knew about the problem, that is why their motor sports division said the car was not race worthy and why they went with different engines for high performance use.

I guess I'm from the school of thought that 911's are always race/track ready, that's the beauty of these cars compared to other brands that require modification before being able to do this.

I've been to the development center in Weissach and it's absolutely amazing the amount of testing Porsche does on their vehicles. There will always be some design or technical issue with just about any car, but these cars are pretty solid.

Talk to Tony Callas at Rennsport...he ran Le Mans teams for Porsche. The M96 is not an engine build for racing. It can be built up for racing, but Porsche did not use it for their turbos or GT2 or GT3 cars.

I can replace the entire m96, maybe twice, for what a 996 Cup motor 100 hour refresh costs. The m96 is great for racing, IMO.
