Default Faulty Turn Signal

Hi Team,

New to the Rennlist forums

Also new to Porsche really. Just picked up a 2002 911 Carrera Cab. Love it!

Here comes the however...

It has a faulty turn signal lever. Engaging a left turn signal, it works but will not turn off on its own. Engaging a right turn signal, I have to hold it in position to keep it on.

I'm assuming there is some bad gear in there somewhere but before I investigate, I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this issue and has a fix before I dive in to it.

Thanks all!!

Mike

Congrats on the car and welcome to RL. I can't speak to this problem from personal experience, but I can say I've read about this or similar problems with the singnal/control stalks on the steering column. The forum search function is your friend. Prepare for a lot of reading - if you're anything like most of us here, this site becomes - like our cars, somewhat of an addiction. As long as you try to be a little thick skinned and/or ignore the jerks (which we all can be at any given time) it's mostly enjoyable and can be extremely informative.

dporto thanks very much for the response and looking forward to all the Porsche and this site has to offer. I'll do some searching on the forum to see if I can find any similar issues and go from there.

Thanks again!

It's the combination switch. Usually some plastic tabs broken inside. It needs to be replaced.

You're welcome. Just make sure you get the correct switch. There are many variations 3-stalk, 4-stalk, etc. Best is to order from Sunsetporscheparts.com

At check out they ask for your VIN and they ensure the parts you order will fit your car. They will email you if they see a wrong part ordered.

Btw, this post explains how the tab works. Perhaps you can remove the switch and check it physically.

Identical problem with my Boxster. The switch needs to be replaced. It's absurdly priced, though.

That's why I learned to just live with it until I come across a good used one cheap. After all the signals still work just have to hold them. It's a 1st world problem!
