Default First Porsche

I will be picking up my first Porsche Saturday morning. It's a 2004 Carrera 4s that is at a dealer in the Dallas area.

Since it is from a dealer, I don't have any real service records. I understand that a private party with records is the better way to go, but the price I was able to purchase it at makes it worth it. I had Hans from RAC Performance do the PPI yesterday and he fixed a few minor issues this morning for me. Although I haven't seen or driven it, it got passing grade from RAC. It is what I would call a driver grade car. Not perfect as it has some chips and dings, but will work great as a DD.

I got rid of one of my toys, a 2004 Corvette Z06, last week. It sat in the garage most of the time since I have two boys, 8 and 5 years old. They fit in the back of a 911 without issue. In fact, my original plan was a 911, but decided on the Z06 instead. I enjoyed it, but should have gone with my original choice.

Anyways, enough typing. I understand that you would rather see pics than read my rambling.

you should look at the carfax, go to a porsche dealer and have them look up the warrantee service history, and it will tell the dealer history, and a salesman can look up the options and dealer etc. You should have done this before you bought the car.

Hello Steve, beautiful car! Congratulations. How do I know? I just picked up a silver 2002 C4S two weeks ago. You might have the same experience: the excitement is enduring!

Just to clarify, I tried this over the phone before I closed the deal, but 2 dealers told me I have to come in with a valid registration in my name and a matching ID. Then afterwards with the docs in hand they gave me the history.

Same thing I was told by a couple dealers....they won't look up anything unless you own the car. One dealer did give me the info, though. Doesn't hurt to ask, but don't expect it has been my experience.

Beautiful car...congrats.

I have all of that with the exception of the Porsche dealer service. Carfax, Autocheck, build sheet, etc.

Very nice, I've been looking at a couple 996's at RAC Performance. Now that I see yours I might want to look into the 4S!

Silver wouldn't have been my first choice, but it matches my dad's 1975 911s. My dad purchased it from my uncle last year. My uncle drove it from new until the early 1980's. He had a minor issue with it getting rain into the gas tank along with the oil bust and a death in the family so he parked it. It only had 60,000 miles

My dad was able to get it running again with not much effort. The interior still looks new, but the paint is really bad and that is next on the list. I kind of like the peeling look.

Poor car in storage for 40 years.

I was originally going to get a Carrera, but the 4s was taunting me.
