I finally got my SRS installed, and it's noticeably improved the shifting feel - my roommate, who uses my car 1-2x per month, asked me what I'd changed in the system, because "it's a lot easier to shift all of a sudden." The notchiness is gone, the uncertainty is gone, and it really does have that "rifle bolt" feel.
